Property Tax
Two offices handle your property tax in Leon County
The appraisal district sets your property value; a separate tax office collects what you owe — they are different offices with different jobs.
In Leon County, two offices handle property taxes. The Leon Central Appraisal District decides what your property is worth. A separate Tax Assessor-Collector then bills and collects the actual taxes. Many people confuse the two. If you think your value is too high, contact the appraisal district. If you have a question about your bill or payment, contact the tax office.
The appraisal district is at 141 W. Saint Marys St. in Centerville (phone 903-536-2252, leoncad.org). The tax office is at 155 N. Cass St. in Centerville (phone 903-536-2543). The Texas Comptroller lists both on its county directory page. Check that page for current contacts, since staff and hours can change.
