The Liberty County Central Appraisal District (Liberty CAD) decides what your property is worth and handles exemptions. It is located at 2030 Sam Houston Street in Liberty. The Tax Assessor-Collector's office collects the actual tax payments. These are two separate agencies with separate addresses.

If you think your value is too high, you file a protest with Liberty CAD — not with the tax office. If you need to pay your bill or register a vehicle, go to the Tax Office. The Tax Office has three locations: Liberty, Cleveland, and Dayton. Keeping these two offices straight saves confusion and missed deadlines.
