Property Tax: Two Offices, Two Jobs
In Scurry County, one office sets your property value and a separate office collects the tax — you may need to contact both.
Two different offices handle property tax in Scurry County. The Scurry County Appraisal District sets your property value. It covers seven taxing units: Scurry County, the City of Snyder, three school districts (Snyder, Hermleigh, and Ira), Scurry County Hospital District, and Western Texas College District.
If you think your value is too high, file a protest with the appraisal district. That is its job. A separate office — the Scurry County Tax Assessor-Collector — sends your bill and collects what you owe. These two offices are at two different addresses. The Texas Comptroller's county directory lists both with phone numbers and websites.
