Appraisal Protest
You Can Protest Your Collin County Appraisal Every Year
Every Collin County property owner has the right to protest their appraised value each year if they think it is too high — the deadline is typically May 15 or 30 days after the notice is mailed.
Each spring, the Collin Central Appraisal District mails a Notice of Appraised Value to property owners. You have the right to protest if you believe the value is wrong. The general protest deadline is May 15 or 30 days from the date the notice was mailed, whichever is later. Check your notice for the exact deadline.
You file a protest with the Appraisal Review Board (ARB), an independent panel separate from the appraisal district. You can often request an informal meeting with an appraiser before a formal hearing. If you are not satisfied with the ARB decision, you can appeal further. Start at collincad.org — the district's site explains the process and lets you file online.
