Property Tax Protest

You Can Protest Your Property Value in Webb County

If you think the Webb County Appraisal District set your property value too high, you have the right to protest — but there is a deadline.

Every year, the Webb County Appraisal District mails notices of appraised value. If you believe your value is wrong, you can file a protest with the Appraisal Review Board (ARB). The ARB is a separate panel that hears property owner disputes. The typical deadline to file is May 15 or 30 days after you receive your notice, whichever is later.

You can protest in person, by mail, or in some cases online. Come prepared with evidence: recent sales of similar properties, a recent appraisal, or photos showing problems with the property. If you do not like the ARB decision, you may be able to take the case to district court or use binding arbitration. Check the WCAD website for the current protest process.
