An Annual Permit Opens Hunting on TPWD Public Lands

Texas Parks and Wildlife offers an Annual Public Hunting Permit that lets you hunt on over 180 TPWD-managed areas across the state, including areas near Potter County.

The TPWD Annual Public Hunting (APH) Permit costs $48 per year and gives access to state-managed hunting areas. Species available vary by location and season but can include deer, dove, quail, waterfowl, and feral hogs. A Limited Public Use Permit ($12) covers non-hunting activities like hiking and fishing on the same lands.

TPWD also lists a drawn hunt area called Potter County Ranch. Drawn hunts require a separate application with a deadline each year. Check tpwd.texas.gov for current drawn hunt listings, as availability and details can change. For licenses, permits, and current season dates, visit tpwd.texas.gov.
