Rita Blanca National Grassland Near Texline

The Rita Blanca National Grassland is federal public land near Texline where people can hunt, hike, and picnic at no charge.

The Rita Blanca National Grassland covers about 230,000 acres spread across parts of Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. The Texas portion sits near Texline in the far western corner of Dallam County. It is managed by the U.S. Forest Service as part of the Cibola National Forest system.

No fees are charged at Rita Blanca recreation sites. Two picnic areas — Felt Picnic Site and Thompson Grove Picnic Site — are available for day use. Hunting is allowed following Texas Parks and Wildlife regulations for the county. Before you hunt, check current TPWD seasons and bag limits because they change each year.
