Hail and Storms
Large Hail and Severe Thunderstorms Hit Tarrant County Regularly
Tarrant County sees frequent severe thunderstorms with large hail, damaging winds, and flash flooding — often in spring and early summer.
The National Weather Service office in Fort Worth tracks severe weather across North Texas. Storms in Tarrant County have brought hail up to softball size and winds over 60 miles per hour. Flash flooding from heavy rain has triggered water rescues in parts of the county.
Hail can cause major damage to roofs, vehicles, and windows. If you own or rent a home, check that your insurance policy covers hail damage. Flood insurance is a separate policy from homeowners insurance — standard homeowners policies do not cover flood damage. Watch weather.gov/fwd for active watches and warnings during storm season.
