Water Supply
Where Tarrant County's Water Comes From
Most of Tarrant County's water supply comes from two East Texas lakes — Cedar Creek and Richland-Chambers — managed by the Tarrant Regional Water District.
The Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) supplies wholesale water to cities across the county. In a typical year, 80 to 85 percent of that water comes from Cedar Creek and Richland-Chambers lakes in East Texas. Eagle Mountain Lake, Lake Bridgeport, and Benbrook Lake supply the rest.
TRWD publishes a daily report on lake levels and water conditions at trwd.com. If you are on a city water system, your city is likely a TRWD customer. Well users are not in the TRWD system and need to manage their own supply.
