River Authority

The Trinity River Authority Serves Tarrant County and the Broader Basin

The Trinity River Authority (TRA) is a conservation and reclamation district that manages water treatment, flood planning, and river basin coordination across the Trinity watershed, which includes Tarrant County.

The Trinity River Authority (TRA) is a conservation and reclamation district created by the Texas Legislature. It works across the entire Trinity River basin. That basin includes Tarrant County. TRA tracks flooding along the river with the National Weather Service. It also sends treated water to some communities and supports cleanup and planning projects along the river.

If your property is in an area TRA serves, the agency may appear as a line on your property tax bill. It would show up as a separate taxing entity. For flood news and river updates, go to trinityra.org. TRA is not the same as the Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD). TRWD focuses on Tarrant County's water supply and flood control. TRA covers the broader basin.
