River Fishing
River Fishing on the Trinity in the Fort Worth Area
The Clear Fork and West Fork of the Trinity River in Tarrant County offer accessible river fishing for catfish and other species.
TPWD manages river fishing access in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The Clear Fork of the Trinity has public access points inside Fort Worth, including at Bellaire Dr. S. at Channel (near Hulen). You can fish from the bank at several spots in Fort Worth.
Important: fish consumption advisories are in effect for the Clear Fork and West Fork downstream of their respective reservoirs — TPWD advises anglers not to eat fish caught in those areas. You still need a valid Texas fishing license to fish the river. Check TPWD's current fishing report and any active consumption advisories before you head out. The report is free at tpwd.texas.gov. River levels can change quickly after heavy rain, so always check conditions first.
