Texas combines the vehicle inspection and registration into one process — you get inspected first, then renew your registration.

Texas calls this Two Steps, One Sticker. Step one: get your car inspected at a state-approved inspection station. Step two: renew your registration. You can renew online, by mail, or in person at the Victoria County Tax Office.

Your renewal is due in the month printed on your sticker. You cannot renew without passing the inspection first. TxDMV.gov has a full calendar showing renewal months. It also explains what the inspector looks for. Knowing both steps ahead of time helps you avoid a last-minute scramble when your sticker is about to expire.
