Two Separate Offices Handle Property Taxes Here

In Runnels County the appraisal district sets your property value, but a separate tax assessor-collector office sends your bill and takes payment.

These are two different offices. The Runnels County Appraisal District decides what your property is worth each year. That value is the base for all your property tax bills. If you think the value is wrong, you protest at the appraisal district.

A separate office — the Tax Assessor-Collector — actually sends the bills and collects the money for the county, school districts, and other local taxing units. If you have a question about your bill amount or payment, that is the right office to call. The appraisal district is at 505 Hutchings Ave., Ballinger (325-365-3583). The Tax Assessor-Collector is at 201 S. Broadway St., Ballinger (325-365-2339).
