Winters-Elm Creek Reservoir: A Quiet Place to Fish
Winters-Elm Creek Reservoir is a 337-acre lake in Runnels County with largemouth bass, blue catfish, and white crappie — plus public access from a city park.
The reservoir sits near the city of Winters in southern Runnels County. TPWD has recorded healthy populations of largemouth bass, blue catfish, and white crappie there. A city park on the east side of the lake has camping, picnicking, and a boat ramp.
Because it is smaller and less well-known than larger West Texas lakes, it tends to be less crowded. A standard Texas fishing license is required. Check tpwd.texas.gov for current size and bag limits before you fish, since these can be adjusted by TPWD.
