Vehicle Registration
Hood County Vehicle Registration: No Inspection Required
As of January 1, 2025, most Hood County drivers no longer need a safety inspection to renew their registration. Just renew by your expiration date.
Texas ended safety inspections for non-commercial vehicles on January 1, 2025. Hood County is not one of the 17 Texas counties that still check emissions. That means most Hood County drivers skip the inspection step entirely. You simply renew your registration.
You can renew online, by mail, or in person. Go to the Hood County Tax Assessor-Collector's office for in-person service. Online renewal opens up to 90 days before your expiration date. If you renew online, your sticker comes in the mail. Check the TxDMV website for current fees and how to renew.
