Registering Your Car in Hutchinson County

Texas uses a combined inspection and registration system — you get your car inspected first, then renew your registration, all with one sticker.

Texas calls this process "Two Steps, One Sticker." Step one: take your vehicle to a state-licensed inspection station and pass a safety inspection. Step two: renew your registration online, by mail, or in person. Your registration sticker is now proof of both. You have a 90-day window to complete both steps.

In Hutchinson County, registration renewals go through the Tax Assessor-Collector's office in Stinnett at 515 S. Main St. (P.O. Box 989, Stinnett, TX 79083). Phone: 806-878-4005. You can also renew online through TxDMV. If you recently moved to Hutchinson County from another state, you must get a Texas inspection and register your vehicle within 30 days of establishing residency.
