Vehicle Registration
Kerr County vehicles do not require an emissions test
Kerr County is not an emissions-testing county, so registering your car does not require a smog check.
Texas only requires emissions tests in certain big-population counties. Kerr County is not one of them. So you do not need a smog check here. As of January 1, 2025, most Texas drivers no longer need a safety inspection sticker before registering either. That means most Kerr County drivers can renew their registration without going to an inspection station at all.
Commercial vehicles still need an annual safety inspection. To register your vehicle, go to txdmv.gov. You can also visit the Kerr County Tax Assessor-Collector office in Kerrville. That office handles vehicle registration for the county.
