As of January 1, 2025, most Anderson County vehicle owners no longer need a safety inspection to register. Anderson County is not one of the 17 Texas counties that require emissions testing. For most people, you just need proof of insurance and your renewal notice. That is it.
You can renew in three ways. Go in person to the Tax Assessor-Collector's office at 703 N. Mallard St., Suite 104, Palestine. Renew online at the TxDMV website. Or renew by mail. Texas still calls its system Two Steps, One Sticker. But the inspection step no longer applies to non-commercial vehicles in counties like Anderson.
