Property Tax
How to lower your property tax bill in Coke County
The Coke County Appraisal District handles property values and exemptions, and filing a homestead exemption can cut your tax bill.
If the home you own in Coke County is your main residence, you may qualify for a homestead exemption. That exemption lowers the appraised value used to calculate your taxes. School districts in Texas are required to give homeowners a $140,000 exemption on a primary residence. There are also exemptions for people over 65 and for people with disabilities.
To apply, contact the Coke County Appraisal District at 13 E. 7th St. in Robert Lee, or call 325-453-4528. You will need a copy of your driver's license showing the property address. The general deadline to file is before May 1 of the tax year, but check with the district for the current deadline. The district's website also lists all taxing units in the county, from the city and school district to the Coke County Underground Water Conservation District.
