E.V. Spence Reservoir offers fishing and camping near Robert Lee
E.V. Spence Reservoir, about 2 miles west of Robert Lee, has more than 14,000 surface acres and provides camping, fishing, and boat ramps managed by the Colorado River Municipal Water District.
E.V. Spence Reservoir sits on the Colorado River in Coke County. It covers roughly 14,640 acres and reaches a maximum depth of about 108 feet. The lake was impounded in 1969. The fishery includes largemouth bass, striped bass, white bass, and channel catfish. TPWD notes that after earlier fish kills the lake is recovering and that largemouth bass are abundant.
The Colorado River Municipal Water District (CRMWD) operates four recreation areas around the lake with camping, picnic facilities, and bank fishing. There are paved boat ramps, though availability depends on water levels. A day-use vehicle fee applies; check the current rate with the CRMWD at (432) 267-6341.
