Many Taxing Units Can Appear on One Dallas County Tax Bill

Your Dallas County property tax bill can include charges from the county, a school district, a city, and multiple special districts.

Dallas County has dozens of taxing units — the county tax office jurisdictions page lists more than 70. Depending on where your property sits, your tax bill could include the county, a school district (there are several in the county), a city, a community college district, a hospital district, and one or more MUDs or other special districts.

Each unit sets its own tax rate. Your total rate is the sum of all units that overlap your property. You can look up which taxing units apply to your parcel at the Dallas County Tax Office site: dallascounty.org/departments/tax/jurisdictions.php.
