Deer Hunting Rules for Edwards County
Edwards County follows the North Zone deer rules and allows up to five deer per season, with no more than two bucks.
Edwards County is in the North Zone for white-tailed deer hunting. The bag limit is five deer total, no more than two of which can be bucks, across all seasons combined. Archery season typically opens in late September. General season runs from November into early January. Youth-only and late seasons may follow. Check the current TPWD Outdoor Annual for exact dates because seasons can change year to year.
Wild turkey is also legal here. Fall and spring seasons both apply, with a bag limit of four turkeys. Harvest reporting is required for deer and turkey — use the Texas Hunt and Fish app or report online through the TPWD website. Most hunting in Edwards County happens on private ranches, which cover nearly all of the land. Public hunting areas are limited; check the TPWD public hunting lands map for any open tracts near the county.
