Deer and Turkey Hunting in Dimmit County (South Zone)

Dimmit County falls in the Texas South Zone, which sets its own deer and turkey seasons and bag limits.

The white-tailed deer bag limit in Dimmit County is 5 deer per season, with no more than 3 bucks. The general deer season runs from early November through mid-January. Archery, youth, and special late seasons add more days. Many ranches here use the Managed Lands Deer Program (MLDP), which means the landowner hands out special tags — check with whoever is leasing you the hunt.

Turkey hunters can take up to 4 birds per license year (gobblers or bearded hens). Spring season runs from mid-March through late April. Quail season runs November through February with a 15-bird daily limit. Javelina is 2 per license year. Turkey harvest must be reported through the TPWD app or website. Seasons and limits can change each year — always check the current TPWD Outdoor Annual before you go.
