Sign up for emergency alerts through Bexar County's Office of Emergency Management
Bexar County's Office of Emergency Management coordinates disaster preparedness and response, and residents can sign up for weather and emergency alerts through free local notification systems.
The Bexar County Office of Emergency Management (BCOEM) plans and responds to all kinds of hazards—flash floods, severe weather, wildfires, and public health emergencies. You can reach the office at 210-335-0300.
Residents can sign up for alerts through the ReadySouthTexas app and sa.gov/Alerts. These systems send text, email, or phone alerts when conditions change fast. This matters most during flash flood events, when danger can build in minutes. The HALT system (High Water Alert Lifesaving Technology) sends specific alerts when low water crossings get dangerous. Sign up at bexarflood.org.
Get ready before an emergency hits. Build a household emergency kit. Make a family communication plan. Know your neighborhood's flood risk and evacuation routes. TDEM's TexasReady.gov has planning tools for Texas households. Check bexar.org/672 for the latest BCOEM information.
