Water Wells
Drilling a Water Well in Presidio County
Presidio County has its own groundwater district, and all wells must be registered with it before drilling.
The Presidio County Underground Water Conservation District (PCUWCD) was created by the Texas Legislature in 1993. It manages groundwater across the entire county. If you plan to drill a well, you must register it with the district before work begins.
The district keeps a management plan that is updated every five years. Because this is a dry, remote region with limited surface water, groundwater rules matter a lot here. Check the district's current rules before you buy land or hire a driller.
