Who Handles Property Tax in Presidio County

Two separate offices handle property taxes here — one sets the value, and a different one collects the bill.

In Presidio County, the Presidio County Appraisal District (PCAD) decides what your property is worth for tax purposes. It does not set the tax rate and does not collect taxes. The appraisal district is at 107 E. Texas St. in Marfa.

A separate office — the Presidio County Tax Assessor-Collector — sends the tax bills and takes your payment. That office is at 301 Highland St. in Marfa. If you want to protest your appraised value, you file with the appraisal district. The general deadline to file a homestead exemption is before May 1, but check the appraisal district website because deadlines can shift. Both offices are in Marfa.
