Homestead and Ag Exemptions Can Lower Your Tax Bill

If you live on your property or use land for farming, you may qualify for exemptions that reduce your taxable value in Comanche County.

A general residence homestead exemption lowers the taxable value of the home you live in. To apply, you need a copy of your Texas driver's license or state ID showing that address. There is no fee to file. The Comanche CAD handles these applications.

Landowners who use open land for farming, ranching, or wildlife management may qualify for agricultural (ag) valuation. Ag valuation taxes the land based on what it can produce, not its market price. This can make a big difference on large rural parcels. Check deadlines and requirements at comanchecad.org — rates and rules can change each year.
