The MTGCD covers Bosque, Comanche, Coryell, and Erath counties. It operates under Chapter 36 of the Texas Water Code.

If you plan to drill a water well, you must register it with the MTGCD before you start. Skipping registration can lead to fines or legal trouble. Rules were last amended in November 2025, so check the current version before you drill.
