Homestead Exemption

How to Apply for a Homestead Exemption in Llano County

A homestead exemption lowers the taxable value of your home — but you have to apply for it yourself.

If you own and live in your home as your main residence, you likely qualify for a homestead exemption. It reduces the portion of your home's value that gets taxed. You do not get this automatically — you must file an application.

File Form 50-114 with the Llano County Appraisal District at llanocad.net. The general filing deadline is April 30 each year, but check directly with the district for current dates. Texas school districts must give a $140,000 homestead exemption. Owners 65 and older or with a disability may qualify for additional reductions and a tax freeze on school taxes. Confirm current local options with the appraisal district, since they can change.
