Crockett County Has Both White-Tailed and Mule Deer Seasons

Crockett County is West Texas deer country. It has set bag limits for both white-tailed and mule deer.

Crockett County has seasons for two kinds of deer. White-tailed deer are more common. For the 2025-26 season, the bag limit is 5 deer total. No more than 2 of those can be bucks. That limit covers all seasons combined.

Archery season opens in late September. General season runs November 1 through early January. A special late season opens in mid-January. It allows antlerless deer and unbranched bucks.

Mule deer are less common in this county. The bag limit for mule deer is 1 buck per season. Archery runs late September through late November. General season is late November through mid-December.

Javelina season runs nearly year-round. The limit is 2 per year. Always check the TPWD Outdoor Annual before you go out. Dates and rules are updated each year.
