Who Handles Property Tax in Crockett County

One appraisal district sets your property value, but a separate tax office collects what you owe.

The Crockett County Appraisal District decides what your land and buildings are worth. That value is used to calculate your tax bill. The appraisal district is at 909 Avenue D in Ozona. The tax assessor-collector — a different office — sends your bill and takes your payment. Both offices are in the same building.

Three taxing units use the appraisal district's values: Crockett County, the Crockett County Consolidated Common School District, and the Crockett County Groundwater Conservation District. Each sets its own tax rate. If you think your value is too high, you can protest it. Check the appraisal district website for current deadlines and forms — deadlines change year to year.
