Hunting in Oldham County: Deer, Pronghorn, and More

Oldham County offers white-tailed deer, mule deer, pronghorn by permit, turkey, quail, and pheasant — with rules that differ from other parts of Texas.

White-tailed deer hunters in Oldham County are in the North Zone. The season bag limit is three deer total, no more than one buck. Mule deer are also present in the Panhandle, with a separate one-buck limit and a shorter general season in late November. Pronghorn antelope hunting requires a special permit issued to landowners — check tpwd.texas.gov to see if permits are available in a given year.

Turkey, quail, and pheasant seasons are also open here. Seasons and limits change each year. Always check the current Outdoor Annual at tpwd.texas.gov before heading out, and verify that the land you plan to hunt is either public or that you have permission.
