What You Can Hunt in El Paso County and When
El Paso County falls in the Trans-Pecos region, with mule deer, dove, quail, javelina, and duck as common game species.
El Paso County is mule deer country. The Trans-Pecos archery mule deer season typically runs in late September through late November, followed by a general season in late November through mid-December. The bag limit is one buck for all seasons combined. Javelina can be hunted year-round in the southern zone, with a limit of two per license year.
Dove season usually opens September 1 in the North Zone. White-winged, mourning, and white-tipped doves are all covered. Quail season runs November through late February statewide. A TPWD hunting license and any required endorsements must be in your possession while hunting. Seasons and bag limits change — always check the current Outdoor Annual before you go.
