Deer, Quail, and Dove Are All Open in Foard County

Foard County has open seasons for white-tailed deer, mule deer, quail, dove, wild turkey, and more — but mule deer bucks face a strict antler rule.

Foard County sits in good hunting country. Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPWD) lists open seasons for white-tailed deer, mule deer, quail, dove, wild turkey, javelina, sandhill crane, and several migratory birds. Squirrel season runs nearly year-round.

Mule deer come with a strict rule. A legal buck must have an outside antler spread of 20 inches or greater. Spike bucks that do not meet that spread are off-limits. White-tailed deer bag limit is five deer total, with no more than one buck across all seasons combined. Quail season typically runs from November through late February. Seasons and limits change each year, so always check the current TPWD Outdoor Annual before you go. You need a valid Texas hunting license, and some species require additional endorsements.
