Freshwater Fishing
Lake Arrowhead Is Known for Catfish and Crappie
Lake Arrowhead, southeast of Wichita Falls, holds white crappie, largemouth bass, and large catfish under statewide fishing regulations.
The lake covers about 15,000 acres at typical levels and reaches up to 45 feet deep. All fish species are managed under standard statewide regulations—there are no special lake-specific rules. White crappie fishing tends to be strongest during spring spawning. Flathead catfish over 40 pounds are not uncommon, with the lake record at 70 pounds.
You need a valid Texas fishing license to fish from a boat on the lake. No license is needed when fishing from shore or the pier inside Lake Arrowhead State Park. Check current season and limit rules at tpwd.texas.gov before your trip, as regulations can change.
