Lake Arrowhead State Park: Camping and Fishing Near Wichita Falls
Lake Arrowhead State Park sits about 15 minutes south of Wichita Falls (in Clay County) and offers camping, fishing, hiking, and equestrian trails on a 16,200-acre lake.
The park sits in Clay County, about 15 minutes south of Wichita Falls via US-281 and US-287, and is the closest state park for Wichita County residents. It has water-and-electric campsites, water-only sites, primitive walk-in camping, and equestrian camping. More than five miles of multi-use trails are open to hikers, cyclists, and horseback riders. Nine boat ramps give lake access, and a lighted fishing pier lets you fish after dark.
The lake holds white crappie, largemouth bass, white bass, and catfish. You do not need a fishing license to fish from shore or the pier inside the park. Day-use entry is $4 for visitors 13 and older; children 12 and under are free. The park fills up in spring and summer, so reserve online at tpwd.texas.gov or call (512) 389-8900.
