Lake Tyler and Lake Tyler East supply water to the city of Tyler

Smith County has two city-owned lakes that serve as Tyler's drinking water source and also provide recreational access.

Lake Tyler and Lake Tyler East are reservoirs owned by the City of Tyler. They sit within Smith County and serve as the municipal water supply for Tyler. Because they are drinking water sources, they have tighter use restrictions than Lake Palestine.

Check with the City of Tyler Water Utilities before boating or fishing there, as public access rules may differ from those at other lakes. Being near a water supply lake can also affect what you can do on nearby land.
