Lake Waco Offers Year-Round Fishing Access

Lake Waco is an 8,465-acre reservoir with multiple public boat ramps managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Lake Waco sits on the North, Middle, and South Bosque Rivers in McLennan County. The lake holds largemouth bass, white bass, channel, blue, and flathead catfish, crappie, and hybrid striped bass. White bass run up the rivers from February through April. Catfish are best in spring and early summer.

Multiple public boat ramps ring the lake, operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Some charge a launch or entry fee; others are free. The lake has special regulations on some fish species — check current TPWD rules before you go. Contact TPWD at (254) 666-5190 for up-to-date information.
