Lady Bird Johnson lived in Travis County for much of her adult life. She pushed for the Texas wildflower program and is honored through the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. The Wildflower Center is at 4801 La Crosse Avenue in Austin and is run by UT Austin. These two places are part of how Austin grew into a political and cultural center with a national presence.
