Lockhart State Park offers camping, fishing, and a nine-hole golf course

Lockhart State Park sits just outside the county seat and offers camping, trails, and a historic 1930s golf course along Clear Fork Creek.

The park is at 2012 State Park Road in Lockhart. It opens daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Entry is $3 for adults; children 12 and under are free. You can fish in Clear Fork Creek without a fishing license, which is unusual for a state park.

The nine-hole golf course was built by the Works Progress Administration and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930s. Club and cart rentals are available. A seasonal swimming pool is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The park can fill up on weekends, so reserve a campsite or day-use pass ahead of time at the TPWD reservation site.
