Nuisance Code
Dallas County Enforces a Nuisance Code Outside City Limits
If you live in unincorporated Dallas County, a county nuisance code prohibits junk vehicles, high weeds, and unsafe structures.
Even if you live outside any city in Dallas County, rules still apply to your property. The county enforces a nuisance code in unincorporated neighborhoods. The code bans piles of rubbish, garbage, junk vehicles, and old tires. It also covers high weeds and buildings that are not safe to be in.
Complaints are handled by the Department of Unincorporated Area Services (DUAS). DUAS is the county office that deals with rules and services for people who live outside city limits. If you see a violation near you, or if you want to know if the code applies to your land, call DUAS at (214) 653-6565. You can also find more information at dallascounty.org/departments/duas.
