Who Values Your Property for Taxes

The Lubbock Central Appraisal District sets the value of your property; a separate tax office collects what you owe.

Two offices handle property taxes in Lubbock County. The Lubbock Central Appraisal District (CAD) decides how much your property is worth for tax purposes. Think of the CAD as the office that puts a dollar value on your home, land, or business each year. The Lubbock County Tax Office then collects the money you owe based on that value.

These are two separate offices. You deal with the CAD if you want to protest your value or apply for an exemption. You deal with the Tax Office when you pay your bill. The CAD is located at 2109 Avenue Q in Lubbock. Check their website for current deadlines for protests and exemption applications.
