Who Handles Your Property Tax in Medina County
Two separate offices handle your property tax: the appraisal district sets your value, and the tax assessor-collector sends the bill.
In Medina County, the Medina County Appraisal District (MCAD) decides what your property is worth for tax purposes. The tax assessor-collector then uses that value to calculate and collect the taxes you owe. These are two different offices with different jobs.
MCAD is located at 1410 Avenue K in Hondo. You go there to protest your value, apply for exemptions, or ask about your appraisal. The Tax Assessor-Collector is at 1102 15th St., also in Hondo, and handles billing and payment. Check the Texas Comptroller's county directory for current contact details, since personnel and rates can change.
