Appraisal Protest

You can challenge your property appraisal in Midland County

Every property owner has the right to protest if they think the Midland Central Appraisal District valued their property too high.

The appraisal district mails value notices around mid-April each year. When you get that notice, you have a limited time to file a protest with the Appraisal Review Board (ARB). The ARB is a separate panel that hears disagreements between owners and the district.

Gather evidence before your hearing — recent sales of similar properties nearby, photos of damage or issues, or an independent appraisal. The district must reappraise each property at least once every three years. Check midcad.org or call (432) 699-4991 for current protest deadlines, since missing the window means waiting until next year.
