Two Offices Handle Your Property Tax in Grimes County

Grimes County uses two separate offices for property tax work. Knowing which one to call will save you time.

Two offices handle property tax matters in Grimes County, and they do different jobs.

The Grimes County Appraisal District sets the value of your property. It also handles homestead exemptions, agricultural valuations, and protests. The appraisal district is located in Anderson. Its website is grimescad.org.

The Grimes County Tax Assessor-Collector is a different office. It handles vehicle registration and other county business. It does not collect property taxes. The appraisal district collects property taxes.

If you have a question about your property tax bill, call the appraisal district first at 936-873-2163. Calling the wrong office can waste your time. The Texas Comptroller's website lists both offices and their contacts.
