Appraisal Protest
You Can Challenge Your Property Appraisal Each Year
If you think the Grayson Central Appraisal District overvalued your property, you have the right to protest and get a hearing.
Each year, property owners in Grayson County receive a Notice of Appraised Value. If you believe that number is too high, you can file a formal protest. There is a deadline after you receive the notice, so act quickly.
The protest goes before the Appraisal Review Board, which is a separate panel from the appraisal district. You present evidence such as recent sales of similar homes or an independent appraisal. The Texas Comptroller's office publishes a free guide on how to prepare. Check the Grayson Central Appraisal District website for current deadlines and instructions.
