An Annual Permit Opens Public Hunting Land in Texas

Texas Parks and Wildlife sells an annual permit that lets hunters access public hunting areas statewide, including properties in the region.

Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPWD) sells an Annual Public Hunting permit, called the APH permit. It opens up over a million acres of hunting land across Texas. For one set fee, you can hunt white-tailed deer, feral hogs, dove, quail, turkey, waterfowl, rabbit, and squirrel on more than 180 areas.

Most land in Maverick County is privately owned. The APH permit is how you get legal access to public hunting tracts in the area.

To find areas in or near Maverick County, use the TPWD search tool on their public hunting page. You can also download the Public Hunting Lands Map Booklet. You still need a Texas hunting license in addition to the APH permit. Check the TPWD link below for current details and fees.
