Public Hunting Permit Opens Access to State Land
A state annual hunting permit lets you hunt on TPWD-managed public land across Texas, including areas accessible from Coryell County.
Texas Parks and Wildlife sells an Annual Public Hunting (APH) permit for around $48. It opens about one million acres of public land across Texas. You can hunt white-tailed deer, feral hogs, dove, turkey, and more. The permit works on over 180 hunting areas statewide.
There is also a cheaper Limited Public Use permit. That one covers fishing, hiking, and wildlife watching — but not hunting.
Most of Coryell County is private ranch land. The public hunting permit mainly gives you access to nearby TPWD-managed areas outside the county. Use the TPWD public hunting search tool to find open areas near you. Always check current permit prices before you buy.
