No Emissions Test Required for Most Coryell Vehicles
Coryell County is not an emissions county, so most passenger vehicles skip the emissions test when registering.
Texas requires emissions testing only in 17 specific counties. Coryell is not one of them. As of January 1, 2025, non-commercial vehicles registered here no longer need a safety inspection before registration either. You renew your registration at the county tax office or online.
The Coryell County Tax Office at 800 E. Main Street in Gatesville handles vehicle registration, title transfers, and license plates. You can also renew online or by mail. Check TxDMV or the county tax office website for current fees and hours, as those can change.
