San Angelo State Park Offers 50 Miles of Trails Near the City
San Angelo State Park sits on the shores of O.C. Fisher Reservoir and has 50 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding.
The park has two units — North and South — along O.C. Fisher Reservoir and the Concho River. You can hike, mountain bike, ride horses, fish, boat, swim, and camp. There are rustic log cabins, campsites with water and electricity, and primitive sites. Entry is $4 per adult; children 12 and under are free.
The park also has a Dinosaur Trail with Permian-age fossil trackways and paddocks with bison and longhorn cattle. Over 300 bird species have been recorded here. The park is at 362 S. FM 2288, San Angelo. Reserve sites in advance through the TPWD website.
